ORIENT LINK - Introduction
Links between Eastern Wisdom-Religions: GUPTA VIDYA and Western ancient Wisdom teachings

Orient Link is my research about the links between:

1. Eastern Gupta Vidya, the ancient Wisdom-Religion in the early Indian pre-Aryan and Aryan Empire (Hinduism/Buddhism)

2. Middle Eastern and Western archaic Wisdom teachings in Babylonian (Manicheism), Persian (Zoroastrism), Egyptian (Hermetism/Sabians), Byzantium (Nestorians), Islamic (Islam), Judaic (Judaism), European (Paganism), Greek (Platonism), Roman (Christianity) Empires

3. Their religious, esoteric and spiritual teachings and religions.

Part 1: CENTRAL ASIA

‘Old fashion science used to place the origin of civilization, and of the Aryan folk especially, in Higher Asia, on what are now the great plateaus of central Asia. Before our present 5th or Aryan race was formed as a race, that is to say, sui generis, a race of its own type and kind, distinct from the 4th Root-Race, its predecessor, it had an evolution of millions of years, while the Atlantean Root-Race was slowly going to pieces. I have often wondered if science someday will discover in this vast central Asian tract the remains of peoples who were more civilized than we are today, more advanced in invention, in discovery, in philosophy, science and religion, than we are now, far more…’

If you take a map of Asia and on it find Persia, Balchustan, Afghanistan, Bokhara and Turkestan, the Sea of Aral, the Caspian Sea and to the east the Pamir and Hindu-Kush, the Tien Shan, the Altyan Tagh (1) , an enormous tract of country, most of it desert waste, there you will find the seat from which we came as a racial stock, from which later descended into the Indian peninsula those people who called themselves ‘Aryans’, the ‘High caste’, who later were divided into four Castes: Brâhhmanas, Kshattriyas, Vaiśyas and Śǔdras.

From the south-eastern parts came later the Babylonians, the Assyrians, the Medes and the Persians and the peoples of Europe, Greeks and Romans.

On the outskirts and surroundings of these highly civilized tracts of land, immense in extent, there were outlying peoples. These last were remnants of the Atlanteans, like the Chinese, Japanese, Javanese, Siamese and the Tibetans. ‘These highly civilized peoples had their own off-shoots, after sub- and sub-sub races to come, then in their infancy and childhood. They became the Celtic and the Teutons of Europe and the West of Europe. The Alps were rising: Only the peaks and a certain amount of the foothills of the Alps were as yet above the sea. The Arabs at that time were just wild savages, offspring of the mixed Atlantean and early Aryan peoples. They have not come into their own yet. Someday they will…’ (2)

Preface

In the summer of 2004, I attended a week long symposium in Amsterdam which is called ‘De Hermetische Schakel’ or ‘The Hermetic Link’ and is the newly published book of the well-known Dutch Cultural Historian Drs. Jacob Slavenburg organized by the Origenes Institute and its Director Dr. John Schaik.

The lectures given by prominent scholars highlighted many varied aspects of the Hermetica, the ancient Egyptian Wisdom-teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, Hermes the Thrice-Greatest, the manifestation of Thoth, the Egyptian God of Wisdom, also known as the prophet Indris by the Arabs, the alchemist Mercurius and the gnostic Hierophant-Initiator in the Corpus Hermeticum. His teachings certainly played an immense role in the early development of the Rosicrucians and Freemasons. The Hermetica covers an immense range of subjects based on Egyptian mystical teachings including the sciences of Alchemy, Medicine, Mathematics, Astrology, Magic, Botanics, Natural Sciences, and the inspiration of the ancient Wisdom-Religion. Jacob Slavenburg showed the 2000 year history and link between Egypt and Europe and its impact on the early development of the Rosicrucians, Freemasons and Gnostics, the latter being confirmed by the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Codices, which he translated.

It was fascinating and I was left with a question after such an inspiring week:

Where is the fountain-source of the Hermetica and could it be traced even further back into antiquity, prior to the Egyptian Thoth, God of Wisdom? I was aware that an ancient Wisdom-Religion once thrived and blossomed in the East.

The aim in my research of Wisdom-Religions is to try and make a link between archaic Eastern civilizations with their highly developed knowledge in Science, Philosophy and Esoteric teachings, known as the ancient Wisdom-Religion or the Gupta Vidya or the Brahma Vidya. Its subsequential current which flowed to the West and became known by many different names during its thousands of years prior to the Deluge is still known as the Wisdom-Religion.

Questions to be answered:
A) What is the History and origin of the Wisdom-Religion, and its names over the millenia?
B) How did this expansion of knowledge occur from East to West?
C) Who were the carriers of these teachings? Was it taught in mystery schools?
D) Which empires show the existence and/or origin of this wisdom?
E) When did it disappear and when did it reappear in history and for what reason?
F) What is the importance of living by these teachings? Is it the evolution of Humanity?
G) During the 4th Round at midpoint (on Globe D) and now being on its ascending arc, is it the task of the 5th Root-Race to develop the 4th human principle, known as Kâma (having reached the subdivision level Kâma-Manasic) to develop ourselves to a higher level namely the Buddhistic-Manasic principle? Meaning to say, is our Compassion (the Heart-doctrine) coupled and ruled by our Intellect (the Eye-doctrine)?
H) This is ultimately self-evolution, without the dogma of the Church, the development of the ‘divine’ quality latent in our heart, it being the center of the Universe, as all Esoteric doctrines indicate and will it result in the expansion of our human consciousness?
I) How do we accomplish this taking into consideration the modern ‘Mystery schools’?

The Book of Dzyan

A) What is the History and origin of the Wisdom-Religion, and its names over the millenia?

The Cosmogeny and beginning of mankind had an Atlantean origin.

The Book of Dzyan

‘The Book of Dzyan’, as a physical toll or book or manuscript or Tibetan type-write, call it what you like, as H. P. Blavastky. says, nor very old, it is probably about 1000 years old, and its part of a well-known, more or less common Tibetan series of works, well-known even exoterically, called Kiu-ti as a general title for these volumes, just as The Secret Doctrine is in 2 volumes, etc.

The substance, however, of the Book of Dzyan, which is simply the Tibetan or Mongolian way of pronouncing the Sanskrit Dhyâna, is very ancient, goes right back into Atlantean times, and even beyond in regard as the doctrine has taught.

This original doctrine, the original Theosophy [Wisdom of the Gods] i of the spiritual beings or Mânasaputras ii of the higher type who brought it to ancient mankind in the 4th Round, has percolated all over the earth, and is found, or could have been found, in many languages. Some of these have vanished, have been destroyed. A few are preserved. The Masters iii of course have records of all, samples that is, in their secret libraries or cave-temples…

The Book of Dzyan was especially selected by H.P.Blavatsky to write from because it contains the original archaic teaching, admittedly covered up in the Kiu-ti scriptures with a lot of extraneous material, legendary stuff, marvels and miracles of which the Tibetan populace delight in. But she had been taught to read underneath these things to find the thread of pure gold among the exoteric and devotional materials.

The Book of Dzyan, one of the first of the Kiu-ti series, deals with the cosmogenic building of the worlds and of our planetary chains, and especially deals with the first appearances of Human or of the Root-Races, just as H.P.Blavatsky has dealt with the matter in her two volumes of the Secret Doctrine.

There is a remarkable commentary, partly exoteric, partly esoteric, on various matters, written under the guise of the reformed Buddhism which Tsong-kha-pa iv brought about, but actually contains a lot of genuinely esoteric teachings. Very few people have ever seen a copy of the Lam Rim; I do not know why, but it seems to be the case. There has never been seen a copy, which does not mean anything because I do not live in Tibet. There has never been a traveler who could get hold of a copy, though I have heard of several claims. For some reason, up to the present, Lam Rim has been guarded carefully. Perhaps in the future it won’t be so.v

Thus, to summarize, the Book of Dzyan is written in Tibetan, at least part of it or most of it is interspersed with a lot of exoteric material, but the real occult part of the Book of Dzyan is one of the first of the Kiu-ti volumes and deals mainly with the Cosmogony, and later on to a less extent with Anthropogony, or the beginning of Humanity.’vi

B) How did this expansion of knowledge occur from East to West?

Knowledge was passed on through oral and written communication using these genres:

1. Myths and Legends

a) Stories of Creation:

description to come...

b) Existence of demi-gods and heroes:

description to come...

Everywhere in Mythology the birth of demi-gods and heroes is described, teaching mankind.

2. Religions

a) Middle East:

The teachings of Zarathustra: ‘…the first Humans were created out of the sweat of Ormoedz (Ahura Mazda)’

b) Ancient Central Asia:

In the Aitreya Brahmana, we can read Prajapati , ‘Lord of Creation’ formed the manifestedworld out of his ‘sweat’ (the ‘sweat-born’ 2nd/3rd Rootrace)

C) Who were the carriers of these teachings? Was it taught in the mystery schools?

Description to come...

D) Which empires show the existence and/or origin of this wisdom?

Description to come...

E) When did it disappear and when did it reappear in history and for what reason?

Description to come...

F) What is the importance of living by these teachings? Is it the evolution of Humanity?

Description to come...

Description to come...

H) This is ultimately self-evolution, without the dogma of the Church, the development of the ‘divine’ quality latent in our heart, it being the center of the Universe, as all Esoteric doctrines indicate and will it result in the expansion of our human consciousness?

Description to come...

I) How do we accomplish this taking into consideration the modern ‘Mystery schools’?

5th, Aryan Race

In the Brahmanic anthropological concept, the human life-wave is divided into seven great racial streams, out which the first three divisions are referred to as species to signify that they had not attained the state of true Human creatures.

The history and beginning of mankind and the chronological list of the races which have inhabited this Earth according to the ‘Secret Doctrine’ is:

1. Polarian
2. Hyperborean
3. Lemurian - these 3 races had not attained the state of true Human creatures.
4. Atlantean
5. Aryan race - this is our present Human race, while the 6/7th race is still to come...

The fourth, or Atlantean race, mingled with the remnants of the later Lemurians, constituted the Atlantean distribution of peoples and is therefore considered the dividing point between the involutionary and evolutionary arcs of Human development..’vii

About the first four races we will at this point of our research devote very little time to and start with the pre-Aryan period after which the Aryans dominated the Central Asian (India) lands.

The Dravidians

Prior to the arrival of the Aryans, numerous tribes were living in the lands bordering the Ganges River, called Dravidians, nowadays known as North India.

Manly P. Hall’s i description is:

‘The name Dravid, or Dravidian is generally applied to the indigenous non-Aryan peoples who anciently inhabitated that part of India which extends from the Vindhyas (mountain range) to Cape Comorin. According to the older teachings, the dark-skinned Dravidians belong to the Atlantean distribution of populations. As the result of the early Aryan migrations from the North the Dravids, who are of Turanian stock (derived from at least four racial stocks, including pre-Aryan, departed from the region of the Punjab and the Ganges and withdrew to the central and southern provinces of India.

The Dravidians did not have a caste system prior to the Aryan infiltration, they recognized only two classes: Patricians and Plebeians. These pre-Aryan Dravids seemed to have possessed the Akkadian lunar calendar and a mythology of thirty-three deities belonging to an astro-theological pantheon. They practiced Totemism, constructed monolithic monuments and recognized kinship in a female line of descent. They also produced an extensive and important literature and were advanced in the arts. It was among this heterogeneous population that the Brahmanic religious philosophy arose...

They practiced totemism, constructed monolithic monuments and recognized kinship in a female line of descent. They also produced an extensive and important literature and were advanced in the arts.

When the Brahmans settled among them, it was among this heterogeneous population that the Brahmanic religious philosophy eventually developed.’

And thus, the following research of the source and further spread of this Wisdom-Religion begins at the cradle land of the Human race far in antiquity in CENTRAL ASIA and we will try to follow its current thru the millennia as it spread all over the East, Middle East towards Europe and beyond.
